ABOUT US

Professional Minds™ is headed by Dr. Chris Smewing. Chris is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Chartered member of the Institute of Personnel and Development. He combines a strong academic background with extensive practical experience of working as an HR specialist and business psychology consultant. His main areas of expertise are individual assessment and coaching, leadership development and the facilitation of change. He enjoys working with teams and individuals to help them recognise and develop their skills and contribution to the organisation.

Chris has worked with many types of organisations, both private and public sector, across Europe and Asia.  He spent his early career in Human Resource Management working firstly for London Transport, and then Allied Lyons. This was followed by six years as a research fellow at both the University of Nottingham and Birkbeck College, during which time he was awarded his PhD. He has been working as a consultant since 1997 and is the past Chair of the Occupational Section of the British Psychological Society.

He is a member of the Foundation for Coaching, and the British Psychological Society Special Interest Group in Coaching, and an Associate of the Adair Leadership Foundation. As well as his consultancy work, Chris is also a special lecturer at the University of Nottingham.
